End-to-End Network Monitoring Software for LAN

Detailed, Application-Aware Network Monitoring

Actionable data is the only thing that can help IT solve application and network performance issues faster. With the reliance on 3rd-party networks and the cloud, traditional SNMP monitoring offers only part of the picture. AppNeta combines active delivery path monitoring on your critical LAN and WAN infrastructure with traffic analysis and application identification. That gives IT the tools and information it needs to become more efficient and solve issues faster than with device data alone. Monitor applications in use on the LAN or in your data center to identify congestion and issues like high retransmit rates, so you can proactively see degrading performance across your network. If an issue arises, AppNeta will run our deep network path diagnostics and trigger an SNMP poll of your devices to offer as much context around the problem as possible.

Application Identification

Usage monitoring with AppNeta monitors your network to identify, classify, and categorize application traffic so you know what apps are hogging bandwidth and which apps are slowing down before users are impacted. Monitor the throughput, retransmit rate, network latency and application latency for every host over time and across all locations. AppNeta allows you to reduce MTTR and close tickets faster by going way beyond NetFlow and traditional monitoring.

Continuous Performance Monitoring for the LAN

For large internal network environments, AppNeta shows the connectivity, application usage and link capacity for your users, whether their requests traverse the LAN, a global WAN or travel beyond the firewall into the public Internet. AppNeta allows for active monitoring on the LAN without significantly impacting the network like traditional flooding tools. With a low-overhead approach to monitoring that runs every minute, AppNeta provides the same accuracy as flooding, but with only 30-50 packets sent per minute.

Actionable Diagnostics with SNMP Context

Monitor metrics like capacity, jitter, latency and data loss for every hop on the LAN across your large offices and data centers. AppNeta’s hop-by-hop analysis works for both LAN and WAN, running automatically on violation of any alert thresholds. Don’t guess where issues occurred—instead, get alerted and get to work. With bi-directional monitoring, you can look at the inbound and outbound traffic in complex LAN environments. To ensure you have all the data you need, AppNeta will also collect SNMP data from devices you own when an issue occurs so you have access to all the information you need to solve the problem.

User, Subnet and VLAN Metrics

For critical users or links, an AppNeta Workstation Monitoring Point can be installed to provide direct metrics for the application delivery path, regardless of where that machine is. Test from different floors, subnets or VLANs in an office to ensure good performance across your enterprise. With AppNeta, you can even activate a WiFi interface on our Small Office Monitoring Point. Then you can test the last hop in the LAN by joining the AppNeta appliance to the WiFi network, just like a user would.

Connecting the WAN and LAN

AppNeta customers can view all nodes of the network internally and externally. Think of AppNeta's purpose-built Monitoring Points as a virtual bridge on the network that sits behind the firewall between the LAN and the WAN. You can monitor through the WAN over MPLS, public connections or through SD-WAN to the applications that users need. At the same time, you can test against critical infrastructure on the LAN. Monitor connections to servers, workstations or even a VoIP headset. Each side can be viewed independently, but a complete picture can be formed by viewing both sides.
