Notice of UI/API Update to TLS 1.2
by Alec Pinkham Alec Pinkham on

At AppNeta, we use the latest industry-standard security methods to ensure that data transfer and data storage are completely secure in transit and at rest for our customers. As a result, we will be upgrading all client connections to our API as well as our AppNeta Performance Manager UI to use HTTP over TLS (HTTPS) in support TLS 1.2. This change will keep monitoring data secure and up-to-date with current encryption and security protocols.

Why are we removing support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1?

TLS 1.2 is the current standard. Previous versions are out-of-date and pose security risks with unsecured connections. All major browsers have announced or moved forward with plans to no longer support TLS 1.0 and 1.1. In order to ensure the security of our customers’ data in transit, we’ll be removing support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 on UI and API connections to the public cloud version of AppNeta Performance Manager as of November 30th, 2020

What does this mean?

Beginning November 30th, 2020 all unencrypted traffic will no longer be supported for API requests.

  • TLS 1.0 and 1.1 requests will be blocked by AppNeta’s API.
  • The UI for AppNeta Performance Manager will enforce TLS 1.2 connections.

Who is impacted?

From our own analysis, we’ve contacted customers that have accessed AppNeta Performance Manager via non-TLS 1.2 compliant browsers or are making non-compliant API calls. If you are a current customer with any question about the transition, please contact your Customer Success representative.

Updates and Upgrades

Some Monitoring Points will require a simple update, while others will have to be upgraded to newer models. AppNeta is committed to making this transition as simple as possible. Customers will receive (or have received) notifications for updating, reinstalling, or upgrading Monitoring Points.

Please contact your Customer Success representative if you have any further questions.
